La chapelle Sant' Angelo de Lano est l'une des plus hautes chapelles de Corse puisqu'elle culmine à près de 1200 mètres d'altitude. Elle offre ainsi un panorama sur la Corse granitique à l'ouest et la Corse schisteuse à l'est, à cheval entre les communes de Lano et d'Omessa.
Sur la porte d'entrée de la chapelle, un carnet est mis à disposition pour tous les randonneurs. Mis en place en 2014 par des randonneurs autrichiens, ce n'est ni la géocache ni le logbook !
Le sentier démarre à Omessa, aux alentours de 450 mètres d'altitude. Pour se rendre jusqu'à la chapelle, deux variantes sont possibles : monter directement par Cima al Cucco ou pousser d'abord jusque Bocca al Pruno et longer la ligne de crêtes. Un autre chemin est possible, via la jumelle de Sant' Angelo de Lano, la chapelle Sant' Angelo d'Omessa où vous attend une autre géocache. Quelle que soit la variante choisie, le dénivelé positif total approche les 750 mètres, comptez donc au moins 2 heures de montée. Une fois en haut, ouvrez les yeux ! Les aigles royaux et les grands corbeaux ne sont pas loin... Bonne randonnée !

Situated at almost 1200 m altitude, Sant' Angelo of Lano chapel is one of the highest religious monuments in Corsica. It offers a panoramic view on both the western part of Corsica, made of granite, and the eastern part, made of schist.
A notebook is fixed on the front door. It was set there by Austrian hikers in 2014 as a visitors' book : it is neither the geocache nor the logbook !
The trail starts in Omessa at around 450 m altitude. You can take two different paths to get to the chapel : you can go straight to Cima al Cucco or make a detour to Bocca al Pruno and then follow the ridge line. Another path is also available, through the twin sister of our chapel : Sant' Angelo of Omessa chapel, where you will find another geocache. Either way, the elevation gain is up to 750 meters and you should expect at least 2 hours of walk to get to the top. Once you get there, watch for Golden eagles and ravens ! Have a nice walk !
