Geocache Description:

Can you find Bigfoot's bionic arm before he does?

When I was a kid one of TV's defining moments for me occurred on Feb 1st 1976, when at the tender age of 7 I stayed up late to watch Steve Austin (played by Lee Majors) on ABC's TV show "The Six Million Dollar Man" (click for info) duke it out with the giant hairy creature known as the Sasquatch (played by the late 7'4" tall wrestler Andre the Giant). During the furious battle, Steve rips the Sasquatch's arm off and discovers it to be of advanced bionic construction which leads to the discovery that aliens from another planet(who speak english and happen to look exactly like human beings) built the sasquatch cyborg. They use it to scare away folks who venture too close to their secret mountain base.

This is a traditional placement cache, the listed co-ordinates are that of the hiding place. When I was placing the cache this spot was downright spooky when you have sasquatch on the brain. Bonus points to those of you who discover Stephanie Powers and the secret alien mountain base(which will be hard mainly because it does not exist :-)

When the cache was placed it contained:

  • Rubber snake
  • Small measuring tape
  • Bottle of bugs
  • thermometer keychain
  • Whoopie Cushion
  • Magnetic clips
  • 2 pairs of glow in the dark vampire teeth
  • Small football
  • 20' Halloween caution tape
  • Glowstick necklace

There are some great crushed stone bike trails here that lead down to the Ottawa river, you can take one of these trails to get to the cache.

The cache hiding place is covered somewhat by a piece of wood, take care to place this covering back in place upon leaving. Feel free to take pictures of the cache tube, when emptied of it's contents it can be worn. Time will tell what mother nature will do to a large hairy synthetic arm left out in the woods over time.

NOTE: Poison Ivy has been seen in the area. Since the cache is somewhat close to Green's Creek, be mindful of the water, as it will be of varying levels and speeds throughout the year. The cache location should be elevated enough not to be swamped though.

UPDATE: 2002-11-19 Bigfoot was recently spotted at "Gnome Home by Tick and Nammie" taking part in a good old-fashioned Gnome-napping with his one remaining arm (now minus a hand - he's falling apart...).
