Welcome back! This is the second annual Event T(er)raining swimming at Shawnee Mission Park's Beach area and Beach House. Take note, the beach is not where the event is being held - if you don't get to the posted coords, then you didn't attend the event. We'll be as close to the back fence of the swim area as we can get.
Event starts at 12:30 PM and will conclude by 1:00 PM.
In the event of inclement weather, a game-time decision on a nearby alternate location will be made.
This is a FREE day in the park so access to the Shawnee Mission Park Beach area is free! The area opens at noon and you are welcome to stay until it closes at 6:00 PM. Details of what you can bring to the beach are here.
As a higher terrain alternative, you can choose to boat to the lake side of the rope that divides the swimming area from the rest of the lake; you will be responsible for either acquiring a boat at the nearby marina or for getting the appropriate permit to bring your own watercraft on the lake. This is entirely your decision and responsibility. NOTE: It may be difficult to rent a boat on the free day. Also, last year, we had some issues with the lifeguards allowing the boats to approach the swimming area (it worked out), so attendance that way is not guaranteed.
