Hi all!
It's time for another season of CITOs! This one is going to cover the winter route on Mt. St. Helens called Worm Flows. We'll begin in the Marble Mountain Sno-Park lot just before sunrise at 6am. Look for the TH entrance at GZ.
I'll have garbage bags and a first aid kit along with other essentials like GPS and a phone-a-helicopter device.
If you're looking to climb, please note that everyone needs a permit (available at recreation.gov) and to park in the lot you'll need a recreation pass (there are several types available and your annual national parks pass suffices).
This will be a snowy event so prepare appropriately with boots and trekking poles ideally. You'll want water and food and your ten essentials; I can provide a more comprehensive list for anyone unfamiliar with the area or the needs.
We'll set off up the Worm Flows trail and clean up as far as we can given the weather that day with a goal of the crater rim, returning back to the parking lot for a final sweep before heading home.
Permission to clean up is arranged through Amy Wilson, Community Engagement Specialist, Forest Service, Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument
