Geocache Description:

The Emerald Trifecta Challenge

This is a challenge cache and the container is hidden at the posted coordinates.

There are almost 30,000 active traditional geocaches hidden in the state of Oregon and nearly 2.5 million worldwide. They come in all shapes and sizes, all difficulties and terrains. We all love collecting that shining green icon and there is some kind of traditional geocache out there for everyone to find.

The Emerald Trifecta Challenge is a homage to the traditional geocache type and the last in my series of Emerald challenges. Have you earned the right to claim The Emerald Trifecta? Keep reading to find out.

For this challenge there three sets of criteria.

1: You must fill in your fizzy grid with traditional geocache finds.

2: You must have found a traditional geocache hidden on 366 different calendar days.

3: You must have found a Traditional cache on every day of the year (Leap Day not required).

For example: 1: Your Fizzy chart is a grid composed of 81 geocaches of different Difficulties and Terrains. That grid must be filled in with at least one traditional cache find for every D/T. 2: Your hidden on dates calendar is made of caches you have found which were hidden on different dates of the year. The year they were hidden is irrelevant, and the date/year you find them is irrelevant. The finds do not have to be consecutive. It is required to have found a traditional geocache hidden on Leap Day 2/29. 3: Your 365/366 calendar must be filled in with a traditional cache find on every day. The date/year they are hidden is irrelevant. The year you found them is irrelevant and they do not have to be consecutative finds. Finding a cache on Leap Day 2/29 is not required, but will be displayed in the checker output if you have done so.

All past traditional finds count, any size traditional cache container counts. So all the past emerald green cache icons you have found will help you qualify for this challenge.

As required for all new challenges, I have included a checker at the bottom of the page.

The output of your checker should have one traditional cache filled into every fizzy grid space, the first calendar should show 366 hidden date finds, and the second calendar should show a traditional cache find on at least 365 days.

My completed Emerald Trifecta Fizzy grid and calendars are pictured below:

The container is a regular of the kind we all know and love and is spray painted black with Geocache written on the side. Parking coordinates are provided. I have given a direct hint as well as a photo for the entrance of the side trail to the cache, and a spoiler photo for the cache location.

Even if you don’t qualify, feel free to stop by, sign the log and post a note on the cache page.

This cache is located in one strand of Portland’s Emerald Necklace, aka the Collins Sanctuary, so enjoy your time in the green forest.

Thanks for looking. Enjoy The Emerald Trifecta Challenge and the cache.
