Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour Kickoff - GT96

We are excited to announce that WVTim and the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB ) have partnered with Geocaching HQ to create the Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour.  This GeoTour provides cachers with an opportunity to earn a unique Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour souvenir for their profile by finding 50 specific caches in the Berkeley County.

This GeoTour includes a brand new trail of 18 caches, enabling those who complete the trial to also earn a new geocoin from the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

How to earn the Geocoin

  1. Find 16 of 18 new caches labeled “BGG:____”, one of which must be a night cache (GC83A3R).
  2. Complete the passport card with the correct code words for each of the 16 caches. Passports are available at the West Virginia I-81 rest stops or at the CVB in downtown Martinsburg.
  3. Return the completed passport card for verification to the CVB, fill out a short survey card, and they will award the first 325 cachers with the new coin.  One coin per family.

How to earn the souvenir

The GeoTour page will go live on kickoff day and will list the 50 caches that need to be completed to earn the souvenir.   Most of the caches on Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour are “gadget” caches. Find all 50 the caches on the GeoTour and you will earn a unique  Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour souvenir from Geocaching HQ. Except for the new caches (BGG) , most of the caches on the GeoTour are gadget caches released by WVTim over the past several years.

Earning this souvenir will set you apart as a gadget cache master. Hopefully it will bring back some great memories you had while solving some amazing gadget caches. It will be a reminder that you have found many of the most favorited gadget caches in America.  (We would like to think it will be one of your most valuable souvenirs.)

The new caches (BGG) on the Berkeley Gadgets GeoTour are all unique new designs. We plan on releasing 4 of these new caches prior to launch date, all the rest will be activated during the event.

About the Kickoff

This EVENT kickoff is located 2 miles from Hedgesville at the Historic Harlan Spring House, 3182 Harlan Springs Road, Hedgesville, WV.  This farm has one of the first buildings in Berkeley County. This location and its buildings are on the National Historic Register and is home to the Harlan Springs Spring house, made of native limestone (circ. 1740) and is a beautiful picturesque location. We will be holding our event in a circa 1700's timber-frame barn on the property. The event will start at 10:00 am and will end at 10:45 am. A local historian will be on site to share some of the history of Harlan House with us. There will be time for visiting, bug trading, photos and more. Around 10:45 am, the GeoTour will go active. There will be a door prize drawing. There are NO RESTROOM facilities on site... "plan according".

The Martinsburg-Berkeley County Convention and Visitors Bureau is located at 126 East Race Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401. Their phone number is (304-264-8801). Open 7 days a week; 9am – 5 pm weekdays and 9:00-4:00 on weekends. Please arrive in enough time prior to closing. For more information on visiting Martinsburg and surrounding areas, including special geocacher/CVB hotel rates, visit or call the Martinsburg Visitor's Center.

Coins will NOT be mailed out. Please refer to the passport for complete validation instructions. We request that all family units, having more than one Geocaching.com caching account, accept one (1) coin for the trail. This enables us to spread the most smiles to those who visit. We appreciate your cooperation and hope that you enjoy the trail.

Coins are still left for Smart Caches of Berkeley County (SCBC) and a few coins are still left for Mystery Caches of Berkeley County (MCBC), but they won't last long.
