Northern Lights Geo Tour on 12 kätkön sarja Saariselän ja Kiilopään maisemissa. Kätköt tekevät tutuksi revontulten olemusta ja niihin liittyviä uskomuksia. Kätköt ovat perheystävällisiä ja talvilöydettäviä.

Northern Lights Geo Tour consists of twelve different caches in the area of Saariselkä and Kiilopää. With this serie of caches you will become familiar with the character of Northern Lights and many beliefs in relation to Northern Lights. All these caches are family friendly and possible to find also in the winter time.

Usko tai älä

Vanhaan aikaan oli revontulista vallalla monta uskomusta. Yksi tarina kertoo, että ei saanut viheltää, jos näki revontulten välkkyvän taivaalla. Toinen tarina taas kehotti aina laulamaan, kun näkee revontulia. Jos et pelkää revontulia, kokeile kätköllä viheltelyä. Myös laulaminen kätkökavereiden kanssa on kätköllä suositeltavaa. Kätköstä löytyy Ilmari Kiannon runosta laadittu suomalainen kansansävelmä, Revontuli-laulun sanat suomeksi ja englanniksi.

Northern Lights GeoTour

GeoTourin omaa geokolikkoa on myytävänä rajoitettu määrä leimattua GeoTour-passia vastaan. Sinun tulee käydä vähintään kuudella GeoTourin kätköllä sekä leimata passisi kätköstä löytyvillä reijittäjillä. In the past history there were very many beliefs in regard to Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). It was told in one of stories that it is not allowed to whistle when northern lights were flashing. In other story it was encouraged always to sing when you are seeing northern lights. So, now it is allowed to sing! You also can whistle if you don’t be afraid the northern lights. Instead of whistlers it is recommended to sing together with cache-fellows. For this reason there are in the cache words and notes of northern lights-song, in English, too.

Northern Lights GeoTour coins are available for purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must present the punched passport in order to buy a coin (maximum of one black and one purple coin per Username). Show 6 punch marks from different caches to purchase the black geocoin, and 12 punch marks to purchase the purple geocoin. More information at Suomen Latu profile page.
