#1 - Picotas de Pataias Traditional Geocache

Foi originalmente desenvolvida na antiga Mesopotâmia, e aparece em um selo de Sargão da Acádia de 2000 AC. Ainda é usado em muitas áreas da África e Ásia, e até mesmo em várias quintas em Portugal.

It was originally developed in ancient Mesopotamia, and appears in a seal of Sargon of Acadia of 2000 BC. It is still used in many areas of Africa and Asia, and even on several farms in Portugal.

É constituída por dois pedaços longos e articulados de madeira, um deles na posição vertical e firmemente preso ao terreno. O outro, perpendicular ao primeiro, tem numa extremidade um peso e no outro um recipiente para a água. Baixa-se o recipiente ao poço e o peso na outra extremidade ajuda a içar o recipiente.

It consists of two long and articulated pieces of wood, one of them in an upright position and firmly attached to the ground. The other, perpendicular to the first, has at one end a weight and at the other a container for water. The bowl is lowered to the well and the weight at the other end helps to lift the bowl.
