Geocache Description:

Number 1064 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box.

The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100’ apart and the phone boxes have to be red.

Cramond Village and the surrounding areas offer spectacular views over the Firth of Forth... and yet you've decided to take an in depth look at a classic K6 and a post box, it's an odd hobby we've chosen eh?

The final location is around a 15 minute walk from the starting coordinates, mainly because there are a lot of excellent caches in the area, there is no need to cross any fences on your way there as the location is accessible from the sea front.

At the posted coordinates you'll find a wall box and a K6 kiosk seperated by a telegraph pole. You'll need all three to calculate the coordinates of the cache location.

  • The wall box bears the insignia of the monarch that reigned when it was put in place. How many letters are in the first name of the king or queen that was on the throne when this particular post box was placed? Answer = A
  • The telegraph pole has five metal disks attached to it, the first two bear the letters 'DP' followed by three numbers they are: BCD
  • Inside the phone box, if you look at the concrete base, there is a number scratched there: N1 E5
  • Finally, the phone number for the phone box is: 0131 F12 G069

The cache can be found at:

N 55 5A.G(E-B)(D-F)

W 003 1(E-C).CA(F+C)

Please don't attempt to lift the cache as it's anchored in to keep it dry!

 Happy Hunting!
