The lych Gate were originally erected in 1884 in the fence along the Rutledge Street frontage. They were replaced in 1947.
Originally, the lych gates were the first site of the church where the then shrouded bodies were placed, and the traditional church burial service started from here.
The Heritage listed grounds grounds are full of history. The building with the 3 steel roof tops was the Queanbeyan original schoolhouse built in 1865. Wander over and have a look at the plaques. The white building is the original stables and the Church is the Queanbeyan Anglican Church.
Please respect the area as you walk around and spot many tribute gardens and enjoy the historical spots within the grounds.
