About Carntyne Station


Carntyne is a generic 2 platform through station on the Glasgow to Coatbridge line. The station was opened in 1888 at a time when Glasgows heavy industry was expanding. The station was located at the eastern end a large number of sidings and access points to various works, including the Forge steel mill.

Today, little evidence remains of the industries or of the large amount of track that was in the area. The station sees 4 trains an hour each way, with eastbound trains heading for Airdire & Edinburgh and westbound trains heading for Glasgow and beyond.


The cache -
Something slightly different. Stealth required as the location is over looked by a cafe opposite and commuters will park next to it. When removing the cache, note how it is orientated and please replace exactly as found.
