Geocache Description:

1 March 2019, 23:00 - 23:45

Midnight In The Middle of Nowhere is traveling north.

Another chance to meet up at a bothy in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

There is free basic accommodation very close-by for those wishing to sleep over.

I and others will be sleeping in the woods tonight.

How about an event with a difference?

How many have been in the woods at midnight, when it isn’t Halloween? (Probably quite a few of you, by now)

Well, this is your chance again. This event is located in the middle of the woods.

The event will start at 11pm , and will end at midnight on the same night.

Come prepared as it is an upland area, you will need waterproofs, warm clothing, proper footwear, emergency rations, a torch and a shelter in-case the weather turns nasty. An OS map, and the ability to use a compass would also be an idea to prevent you getting lost.  You will need an ability to navigate yourself to and from the event site, and an awareness of your own safety and limitations. I would also recommend that you bring some food and a warm drink, it is March in the wild North East after all,

The accommodation has a solid fuel burner but there may be no dry wood or fuel close-by, so bring some.

Please be aware this is a serious undertaking, though there are good paths from the parking spot.

Hopefully the sky will be clear and we will get a view of the night sky and also if anyone is interested I’ll point out a few stellar constellations

Come along, have a chat and a laugh about caching, bring some TBs, pick up some TBs. All will be welcome.

For those wishing to walk in as a group, if you log ‘will attend’ and  look for notifications 24 hours before I will let people know from where and when I intend to walk up to the event.

You will not be able to drive all the way to the event since it is on forest roads that can be closed at any time, without notice.

As always with my events there will be a log book to sign (this is optional) and I will choose one lucky signatory at the end of the event who will be invited to claim FTF.

Finally if you are intending to sleep up there, you won’t be on your own several of us will be staying the night close by indoors, but you will need to bring your own food and sleeping gear to join us and some fuel for the wood burner.

Snorers and silent sleepers are all welcome.

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A SMALL BOTHY WITH ONE ROOM. So bring ear plugs if you want to sleep inside! J.

I’m looking forward to meeting you in the woods, in the middle of nowhere, in the dark. (Yes my wife thinks I’m mad too)
