The Fredericton Region Museum, formerly known as the York Sunbury Museum, is a small, non-profit museum founded in 1932 by the York Sunbury Historical Society. The museum was housed in several different locations until 1959, when it moved into Officers’ Square on Queen Street in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This year marks the 60th Anniversary in Officers’ Square. Each cache features an exhibit or historical figure. Find five caches to receive a limited edition Geocoin while quantities last.
The Coleman Frog is a famous artefact in the Fredericton Region Museum. The legend is that Fred Coleman found this large frog at Killarney Lake in the late 19th century. He fed it a special diet and it grew to over 42 pounds. The frog was quite tame and would come when called. After it died, Fred had it preserved and put on display in his hotel lobby. There is speculation about the authenticity of the frog. Are you a believer?
