Charles Dedman aka Charley was born in 1887 in Hertfordshire, Hand Terrace son of Charley & Emma. He was a saddler for Mr Tebbett on Hotel Street. On the 1911 census his father was a nursery gardener and he was a farm labourer. He died from a bullet wound to the head at the Somme in 1916 and is remembered at St Georges Church , Swannington. He was created by the Parks Department at the District Council as part of the Famous 50 exhibition.
