All caches within the park are owned and maintained by Lake Metigoshe State Park. Please know that there is a state park entrance fee that is required in the amount of $7/vehicle/day or $35 for an annual pass when geocaching within the park. There is a large parking lot near the warming house that you may utilize in addition to a trail head that will explain more information about our trail system here at the park.
This cache is located near the park's warming house. The warming house stores winter cross-country ski and snowshoe rentals. Skis range from kids to adult sizes. During the summer months, the warming house stores life jackets and paddles for both canoe and kayak rentals. We have single and double kayaks in addition to 2 and 3 person canoes. Should you be interested in renting any of our equipment, please inquire at the entrance station during the summer months or the park office (year-round). We do ask those interested in renting equipment during the winter to call the park at 701-263-4651 to make arrangements to ensure staff is available to accommodate you. During the winter months, minimal staff is available. They may be cleaning cabins, moving snow, shoveling outdoors, operating loud equipment, etc. and not hear the phone so ti is best to make contact prior to rental needs.
During the summer months, keep an eye on the park's Facebook page or view the bulletin boards within the park as there is programming planned on the weekends from mid-May throughout Labor Day weekends. Programs may include guided hikes, amphitheater programs or canoeing adventures.
