About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website
About Fencote Station
Fencote was a station on the Leominster-Bromyard-Worcester railway line. It opened in 1897, but only ran passenger trains until 1952. The last train ran down the line in 1958; this was a special commemorative train which also stopped at the neighbouring stations, Rowley Mill and Steen's Bridge.
The tracks were eventually taken up and the land sold to neighbouring farmers. Most of the line has now been flattened, although the rail bridges still exist. Whilst some stations have been lost to time and redevelopment, Fencote has been extensively restored, including tracks, a signal, and trolleys. The main building is now a private residence, and as such we respectfully ask that you do not intrude upon the privacy of the owners, and instead enjoy the excellent view of the station from the nearby bridge.
Due to the remote location, this cache is only accessible by car/bike. You can park close by, pulling in at the side of the road. Please do not block the entrance drive, and take care with geokids and geohounds as whilst the road is very quiet, vehicles can come along at quite a pace.
