2008.gada 12.decembrī no Pārlielupes cietuma iznāca pēdējais tā iemītnieks, atzīmējot pirmo cietuma slēgšanu Latvijā. Šis cietums darbojās 51 gadu. Daudziem noteikti ir palikusi atmiņā lielā cietumnieku bēgšana 90.gados, kad no šī – Pārlielupes cietuma – izbēga 89 ieslodzītie. Cietumnieki bija izrakuši aptuveni 100 metru garu pazemes tuneli, kurš sākās no ieejas zem uzlauztām flīzēm veļas mazgātavā un beidzās aiz cietuma žoga, kultūras nama «Rota» apkaimē.
Šis slēpnis domāts drosmīgajiem, tiem, kuriem patīk fiziski izaicinājumi un pamestas vietas. Cietuma teritoriju ieskauj divas betona sienas. Šeit nav ieejas, tikai caurumi. Izlienot cauri pirmajam caurumam, jāiet pa kreisi līdz sasniedz caurumu otrajā sienā. Tad jāiet uz ēku pa labi.

On December 12, 2008, last inmate came out of Pārlielupes prison, marking the first prison closing in Latvia. This prison was operating for 51 years. Many people remember big escape in 90's, when 89 inmates escaped out of Pārlielupes prison. They dug about 100 meter long underground tunnel, which started at the entrance below cracked tiles in laundry room and ended behind the prison fence near the culture building «Rota».
This cache is for brave ones, those who like physical challenges and abandoned places. There are two concrete walls around prison territory. There is no entrance, only holes in wall. Go through the first hole, then go left until you find the hole in the second wall. Then turn right to the first building.
