Rua da Felicidade is a very well-known old street in the southwest of the Macao Peninsula. Its name, meaning "the street of joy", speaks to its origins as a place of prostitution, gambling, opium and drinking. One half of Rua da Felicidade is a steep slope, where prostitutes and their clients used to gather. Entering the street from its northwest end, there is a more level section, where opium houses, gambling stalls and drinking houses were set up before opium was banned in Macao.
福隆新街是一條相當出名的老街。該街位於澳門半島西南，西北起自白眼塘橫街（福隆下街）、清平街和清平巷（清平新街、清平直街）交匯處，東南止於紅窗門街，從葡文名稱“Rua da Felicidade”（意為“歡樂街”）可以看出，該街最初秦樓楚館林立，煙館酒家集中，是嫖賭吹飲、鶯歌燕舞之地。
從西北進入，可到達福隆新街平直的下半段。該段在澳門禁鴉片煙之前，多開設煙館、賭舖、酒樓。到福隆圍後，街道變成斜坡，這便是福隆新街的上半段，過去數十家秦樓楚館集中於此，為著名的煙花柳巷。
20世紀40年代，澳門禁娼，福隆新街“花事”蕭條。如今，妓院、煙館、賭檔已經消失，福隆新街正在變為“美食一條街”。
