Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Howard County Soccer Series at Cedar Lane Park

I'm a soccer mom, through and through. I play soccer, my kids play soccer and for many years I spent every weekend and all weekend at soccer fields up and down this part of the east coast, especially when one of my sons was playing premier level soccer. I know that soccer parents have to get their players to the fields up to an hour early for warm-ups and such. I used to spend that hour either walking, jogging, talking with the other parents, entertaining younger siblings or if it was really cold, sitting in the car reading a book. I wish I was geocaching during that time, because I visited lots of parks in many different states and would have loved to spent that time grabbing caches also.

This is a very simple puzzle and soccer fans should easily guess the name of this player.

I love watching the US National Teams play and rooting for the USA.

One of my favorite US players is an American retired professional soccer player, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and two-time FIFA World Cup champion. Hailed as a soccer icon, this player played as a forward for the United States National Soccer team from 1987-2004. This player was the face of the Women's United Soccer Association(WUSA), the first professional women's soccer league in the United States, where she played for the Washington Freedom from 2001-2003. She played college soccer for the North Carolina Tar Heels women's soccer team and helped the team win four consecutive NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship titles.

During her tenure with the national team, she competed in four FIFA Women's World Cup tournaments: the inaugural 1991 in China, 1995 in Sweden, 1999 and 2003 in the United States. She led the team at three Olympic Games, including: 1996 in Atlanta (the first time women's soccer was played), 2000 in Sydney, and 2004 in Athens. She completed her international career having played in 42 matches and scored 14 goals at these 7 international tournaments.
