Pigs in Space STILL Smell Better Barbecued!

A little over five years ago, I attended one of my first geocaching events at this location. The event, hosted by veteran cacher and MGS VP Eagleblazer, was a ‘Geocaching In Space’ event (GC4QX2Q) marking the occasion of astronaut Rick Mastracchio transporting a Travel Bug to the International Space Station. There were upwards of 25 cachers in attendance, and it was my first opportunity to match faces with many of the names I'd seen on logsheets throughout my first six months of caching. I won my first pathtag in the raffle, and I purchased my first two MGS geocoins from then-president _JohnnyCache. It wasn't long before I started looking for more events to attend regularly. That eventually led to my decision to try hosting my own monthly event, and here we are. So thanks to Eagleblazer and all those other cachers for introducing me to the fun of geosocializing! I'm happy to reflect that many of the folks I met that Thursday night in 2013 have since become my good friends. Especially the Roofpig.

This informal meet-and-greet dinner event will be held at Andy Nelson’s Barbecue on Tuesday, 27 November, at 7pm. There will be a logbook to sign, trackables to discover, cngugnts to trade, and prizes to win in a free raffle. Hopefully I can find something pig-related to raffle off – perhaps a trackable snout. Free parking is available, and the establishment is wheelchair-accessible and kid-friendly. And for those feeling particularly misanthropic, there's also a drive-thru.

The fine print:

· Purchase of comestibles is not necessary to attend this event

· All attendees are responsible for purchasing their own food and beverages

· If you bring a trackable item to the event, please be certain it is claimed before you leave
