Geocache Description:

Nightmare in Preston V
We are back in the old haunted Preston logging town commissary, today known as the VASA Hall.  We have it on good authority that paranormal activity will peak on October 27th, but this year the energy is different.  We are not seeing Lord Loki's Circus in our crystal ball, this year we see something different, we see the desert, off in the distance I see something else, it looks like a bunker, and over on the right what is that....  It looks like an air strip, and a hanger and what's that partway out of the hanger.....  Could it be?  It looks like an UFO.  We have been transported to area 51!  Not far from the ET Highway!   So put on your tin foil hats and get transported too!
This event is open to all Geocachers and sure to be enjoyed by young and old alike. Come share a meal with old friends, meet some new ones and enjoy the Halloween season geocaching style and experience some of the legend of the Lord Loki's Geocaching Alien Nightmare.

We are asking that when you post your will attend please also register for the event https://www.eventbrite.com/e/nightmare-in-preston-v-registration-tickets-48779707418 Registration is free again this year, but is required as it helps your hosts plan.  Also this is the 5th Nightmare event, and it could very well be the last. This is my last year as Puget Sound Chapter Rep and without chapter funds from WSGA  it would be impossible to continue. If there is another Nightmare event in 2019 we will have to over come a number of obstacles, the biggest is funding for the venue.  There will be a couple of quick questions during registration regarding that.

EVENTS:
There will be 2 prize drawings at this event, plus a general raffle, a costume contest, a puzzle to solve and a tag hunt before the event!
Everyone should come away with a treat.
As always there will be an area for trackable trading, and the potluck.

Raffle: There will be a general raffle.
If you would like to donate an item to the raffle please let us know
The Early Bird Drawing: Post your will attend before midnight on October 21st and your name will be entered into drawing for the early bird prize. Please note the number of folks you will be bring in your log, that will determine the number of entries you will receive for this drawing.
The WSGA Members Drawing: Bring your current 2018 WSGA badge to the event; show it at the welcome table to be entered into a drawing for an extra special gift as a thank you for supporting WSGA. If you're not a WSGA member we encourage you to support club events and club sponsored events like this one by signing up online or in person at a WSGA event. Please note that you must have your 2018 badge with you in order to be in this drawing.
New this year Snag The Tag in the dark:  A glow in the dark "Lost Soul" tag will be published daily at sunset in the week leading up to the event.  Tag finders can redeem their Lost Soul tag for the "Soul Catcher" coin at the Nightmare in Preston Event.  Details, and a map of the tag can be seen at https://haunt.snagthetag.com/map.php This tag hunt while a new activity for Nightmare in Preston, will operate in a similar fashion to other tag hunts that have been held in the area.
New this year Puzzel Solve for a Prize: Instead of a new Nightmare in Preston (NIP) series of caches, this year there will be a puzzle at the event for you to solve for a "prize", a similar prize that was given out in previous years for the NIP series but a new design for the puzzle.  Though there won't be new NIP series this year, there are still prizes available for the 2016 and 2017 years.  Passports for those years can be found in the galley of images on this cache page, simply open the image, right click on it to save it and then print it. (limit one per-family please).
Pumpkins: Bring your carved pumpkin to the event! We will display them on the porch for everyone to enjoy. You can take your pumpkin home at the end of the event or leave it behind and we will recycle it into animal feed.
Costume Contest Information:
Come dressed up for the event, for another chance to win a fabulous prize! The costume contest will be split into 4 categories, with a 1st 2nd and 3rd place winner in each category, so there will be a total of 12 winners!!!!!!

The categories will be as follows:
age 12 and under
ages 13 to 17
18 and over

Plus best Geocaching Halloween costume, this is a very special category and for it you need to be wearing a Halloween costume that also incorporates geocaching into it.

Nightmare mechindise:
This year we have a VERY awesome trackable item available for $8.00 each.  While not technically coin, these are of very high quality, right up there with what you would expect from a coin, but at a lower cost (picture coming soon).  We will give discounts for purchase of multiple trackables.  We still have a VERY limited number of 2015 cachekinz available, and a few 2016-2017 cachekinz as well, which will be available for $6.00 each.

Proceeds from these sales help your hosts to off set the cost of holding this event.

Volunteers:

If you would like to get involved in this event we would love to hear from you. Have you always wanted to do a haunted house well, we’re looking for interested parties to take part in the mini-haunt walk through. All it takes is a portable canopy, some black plastic to enclose the sides and whatever you think is scary inside. This year we will have the venue the day before and after the event to allow for more time for set up and take down.
We will have the day BEFORE the event to decorate the hall and build the mini haunt. We would love the help making the hall scary. We are there from mid morning until late evening.
We will have the hall the day AFTER the event to take down the decorations, the mini haunt and final clean up. If you can come help out with this let us know.
Additionally on the day of the event:
#1 One or Two people willing to come in early and help us with the final touches. Duties might include setup tables and chairs, decorating.
#2. One or two People willing to stay after the event to help with simple clean up. Duties might include folding up and putting away tables and chairs, cleaning up the potluck area.

#3. Someone that wants to show up about an hour before the event (3:30) and help in the parking lot. You'll only need to work for about an hour.
If you would like to Volunteer for one or more of the available positions please contact SirKarp and / or mention it in your log. Thank you for considering volunteering.

This is also a potluck event, please bring a dish to share. Below is a food list and who is bringing what, but please don't be limited to the list below they are just ideas, feel free to bring what you want, even better if it is Halloween or Alien themed.
