200 W. Mt. Pleasant Ave

Livingston, NJ

Fun Fact: Armenia is one of the oldest countries in the world with a recorded history of about 3500 years.

Armenian cuisine is similar to those of neighboring countries with many features but it differs from them a lot, too. For example, Armenians value the natural taste of food, while Georgians, cook by using a lot of ingredients to achieve a complex variety of tastes.

As a main feature of Armenian cuisine, we can highlight its ingredients. Most common ones are lavash (typical Armenian flat bread), lamb, eggplant, plain yoghurt, and a few more.

Fun Fact: The biblical mountain Ararat (Noah's Ark) is in Armenia.

Armenians also use “burghul” (known as cracked wheat) in preference to rice and maize that are popular among neighboring Caucasian countries.

In Armenia, you will witness an intensive use of a lot of fruits and nuts in preparing dishes. Those include both fresh and dried fruits such as apricots, quince, fresh apples, pomegranate seeds. Walnuts, almonds, pistachios, pine nuts are also of primary use.

Fun Fact: The oldest known winery in the world was in Armenia.

Traditionally, you will find a major middle eastern influence in Armenian cuisine. Many of the foods typical to the eastern Medditerranian are found in Armenia.

What types of food can we enjoy at this event? You will be able or order Hummus, Gyros, Kebabs, Lahmajoun  and more.

What the heck is Lahmajoun? It is a regional type of pizza, thin crusted and covered with minced meats.

Is that all that is available? No, the menu choices will also cover Yalanchee (grape leaves delicately stuffed with seasoned rice, chopped walnuts, senobar (pine nuts) & onions), Paklava (not so different from Baklava), and Katayif (sweet dumplings)

Sounds fun, what do I do next? Post a will attend and we will see you there.

Fun Fact: Armenia is the homeland of apricot

Extra Fun Fact: The Culinary Cruise event series has been running for more than 6 years.
