Riverside Iowa a small town about 15 miles south of Iowa City. It is known for many things...a casino, a golf course, but it is probably best known as the future birthplace of Captain James T Kirk. According to Star Trek movies and books, Captain Kirk was born in Iowa on March 22, 2233 (although some sources say 2228) but they never said what town he was born in. So in 1985, the town of Riverside claimed rights as future birthplace of this iconic Starfleet captain. They host a "Trekfest" every year at the end of June and even have a small museum called The Voyage Home which has a lot of Star Trek memerobilia inside.
We will be a couple hundred years too early to witness the birth of the youngest captain in Star Trek history, but we can still meet up, share some caching stories, and even tour The Voyage Home museum. Admission to the museum is free, but they do accept donations! Let's all plan on meeting at the posted coordinates (361 W. 1st Street in Riverside, Iowa) at 1:00 pm. We will take a picture in front of the USS Riverside at 1:30 pm.
