Geocache Description:

Stone crocodile is a dedication to the memory of Arvids Blumentals in Dundaga.

Arvids Blumentals (born March 19, 1925, died in 2006), known as Crocodile Harry, was an Australian researcher and crocodile hunter of Latvian origin. In 1942, he joined the 25th Abavas Battalion, went to the Eastern Front. In 1944 and 1945, he was seriously injured. He was captured by the Americans after escaping from captivity in the Soviet area of Germany. In 1951, he moved to Australia. In 1956, he began hunting and exploring in the North Queensland. His adventures and reflections were described in the books "Latvian Crocodile Hunter in Australia" (1957) and "Long after the Sun" (1958), as well as "National Adventurer - Crocodile Hunter" (2010). During his lifetime, he hunted about 40,000 crocodiles. Blumental made from a wax figure can be found at the Wax Museum of Madame Tussauds in London, UK. Approximately 20 documentaries have been taken about his life.

Blumenthal is believed to have been the prototype for Crocodile Dandy, who was the main character in three films: Crocodile Dundee, Crocodile Dundee II, and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles. Although according to other views, Rodney William Ansell was the prototype of Crocodile Dundee.
