Geocache Description:

July 14, 2018  10:00 AM - Noon
Stratham Hill Park
270 Portsmouth Ave (Rout 33)
Stratham, NH 03885

Let's meet at the entrance to the pavilion.

A new Geocaching challenge has begun!  If you want to learn more about it and find your first mythical creature... Bigfoot... you can get started right here!   If you have already started your search, there are plenty of opportunities here in the park to earn additional points for your next hidden creature souvenirs.  There are 10 caches here in Stratham Hill Park and the nearby rail trail has more than 30 caches hidden along it.

If you would simply like to meet up with fellow cachers for coffee and donuts in a beautiful location, then please stop by.

There is a fire tower here at the top of the hill with views of Stratham, Portsmouth and the ocean.  On a clear day you can see the Isles of Shoals and Mt. Washington!  There is also a unique milage dial that shows the distances from Stratham to certain landmarks.  And interesting side note: The dial was created by William Lester Lane, my ancestor, in the early 1900s.

If you are interested in the new Geocaching souvenir challenge... here's the scoop from Groundspeak:
Recently, 13 sightings of magical creatures and otherworldly beings have been reported.  Your challenge is to look for these creatures in their natural habitats and confirm the existence of as many as you can. From June 27 through July 25, earn up to 13 mythical creature souvenirs by finding geocaches or attending events.

Earn a point for every cache or event you log. Each Hidden Creature souvenir is valued at a certain number of points. Once you reach that amount, earn the associated souvenir. View your Hidden Creatures progress in the Geocaching® app or on the Hidden Creatures site

Are the points cumulative?
Yes! If you find one geocache or attend one event, you earn the Bigfoot souvenir. When you find two more caches you earn the Fairy souvenir.

Simply sign the log for this event and you will earn the Bigfoot souvenir!

This event is the second in a series of THREE Hidden Creature events! One more event will be held during this challenge, at The Farm at Eastman's Corner in Kensington, NH, so we can gather and see how many Hidden Creatures we have found. Or simply just gather... I hope you are enjoying these other locations, too... some of my favorite places!

Event #1: Hidden Creatures of Great Bay Meet & Greet: GC7QXDH - June 30, 2018

Event #2: Hidden Creatures of Stratham Hill Park: GC7RAM3 - July 14, 2018

Event #3: Hidden Creatures of The Farm at Eastman's Corner: GC7RR84 - July 21, 2018

Don't forget to pick up a raffle ticket for a real souvenir... a Hidden Creatures geocoin! It is over 2" in diameter and beautiful, with an image of the World Turtle on one side. Other raffle prizes include a Hidden Creatures patch, which is also a work of art and quite large. And the third raffle prize is a Hidden Creatures World Turtle Travel Tag. The drawing for these prizes will be held on July 21 at the Hidden Creatures at The Farm at Eastman's Corner. If you attend all three Hidden Creatures events you will have three raffle tickets, increasing your odds of winning a prize! You do not have to be present at the drawing to win a prize.

Hope to see you at the Stratham Hill Park!
