Dans le cimetiére , vous trouverez la tombe du Capitaine de corvette Kieffer.
Né à Haïti en 1899 , il est connu pour son rôle lors du débarquement du 6 juin 1944.
Il décide après avoir rejoint le général de Gaulle en Angleterre de créer une troupe de commando , ils recevront leur caractéristique béret vert en mai 44 après s'être entrainé en Ecosse.
Le 6 juin 1944 il débarque avec ses 177 hommes sur la plage Sword , malgré les pertes ils s'emparent d'un canon de 50mm encuvé qui avait mis à mal une des péniches de ses troupes , puis de l'ex-casino Riva-Bella et part en direction du pont Pegasus de Bénouville. Ils y arriveront vers 16:30 et le capitaine de corvette sera blessé deux fois durant la journée.
A la fin de celle-ci le Capitaine de Corvette Kieffer quittera la marine nationale pour exercer des fonctions politiques au sein des communes d'Isigny et de Grandcamp.
La marine nationale comporte en son sein trois commandos en mémoire de trois soldats issus des 177 ayant débarqué le 6 juin :

Le commando Hubert

In the cemetery, you will find the grave of Lieutenant commander Kieffer.
Born in Haiti in 1899, it is known for its role during the landing of June 6th, 1944.
He decides having joined the general de Gaulle in England to create a troop of commando squad, they will receive their characteristic green beret in May, 44 later if to be trained in the Scotland.
On June 6th, 1944 he lands with his 177 men on the Sword beach, in spite of losses they seize a 50mm gun which had damaged one of the barges of its troops, then the ex casino Riva-Bella and go in the direction of the Pegasus bridge of Benouville. They will arrive towards 16:30 there and lieutenant commander will be twice hurt during day.
His commando squad will continue blitzes till the end of the war.
At the end of this one Lieutenant commander Kieffer will leave the navy to perform political functions within the municipalities of Isigny and Grandcamp.
The navy contains within it three commando squads in memory of three soldiers stemming 177 having landed on June 6th:
