WWFM XV is here! The World Wide Flash Mob put on by Podcacher is going on its 15th year and to make this one memorable, I am hosting a special frog-themed flash mob. Signal the Frog has long been a cherished mascot for geocaching and I thought what better place to host a flash mob than The Frog, a rocky spire located high up in the Sandia Mountains.
Here's the details:
- WHEN: June 9th, 2018 from 11:00-11:30 am
- WHERE: The summit of The Frog, or as close as you can get to it.
- WHY: At exactly 11:00 mountain time, geocachers around the world will also be gathering at events and doing silly things. But will any of them be on top of a granite spire named the Frog? I don't think so... For 30 minutes, I invite anyone who dares to frog-hop up here to croak with me the splendors of geocaching.
- NO REALLY... WHY? Umm... I thought I was clear about that... But as some added enticement... there may be some prizes for those who make it to the summit.
- DID YOU REALLY NEED TO PICK ONE OF THE MOST INACCESSIBLE LOCATIONS FOR THIS FLASH MOB? ISN'T THAT STUPID. Why yes... it probably is a stupid idea... but I haven't let that stop me before.
In all seriousness... I'll try to coordinate an ascent party so more folks will be able to reach this spot. There does happen to be a geocache nearby which I know some have been keen to find. I have ropes, harnesses and a modicum of patience... so I'll do what I can to make this WWFM a memorable one. That said, come prepared for some difficult terrain and tough rock scrambling. And if anyone else who decides to come has ropes and climbing gear and is willing to bring it, let me know. Announcements will follow as the event nears.
