Geocache Description:

CITO op ad bakke

Thank you all for attending! We did an amazing job!

Original listing:

My dear fellow geocachers and Earth lovers. It's time for spring cleaning!

I am rather new to the city and haven't had the time to discover it entirely, but during one of my "exploring" bike trips I came across this nice hill and was surprised and sad to see just how much trash lies here.

And since it's CITO week, I thought WE can do something about it! I talked to the Genbrugplads and together we can make this happen!

Let's clean up this nice hill before the nature wakes up completely after the winter!

What do we need?

Parking

We can park car at the recycling center (WP1) where we will also deliver the trash at the end of the activity.

Facilities

There is access to the toilet (WP3) and first aid here (in case of small cuts and such, during the cleaning activity).

Gear

There will be trash bags available and a dolly / wagon for heavier items, but please bring your own gloves / trash picker and preferably Hi-Viz vests or shirts, if you have any. Also remember to bring some drinking water.

What are we doing?

Our main focus is the area marked with green color. We will be moving clockwise from the meeting point (WP2) following the direction of the existing path, and ending with the full bags near the recycling center (WP4). Please notice the gradient in the color, it is to mark the amount of trash encountered. The line of trees seen at the top of the map is one that will need special attention. High terrain rating is because of this area.

The orange area is a slope, going towards the fence of the recycling plant. There is currently quite a lot of trash there, but I was just told that later this week there is going to be a clean-up activity in that area.

How are we doing it?

I have to point out that during this CITO we will do our best to sort the trash collected! Judging by what I've seen on site, we will mostly have 2 types of waste: light plastic bags/wrappers and hard plastic/metal/other heavy objects.

Therefore we will be walking in teams of at least two people so that two trash bags are available: one for the plastic foils and one for anything else that is small. If you come across waste that is too big or too heavy for the plastic bag, it shall be placed in/on the wagon available.

  • all the light plastic bags / plastic wrappers / plastic foil in the trash bags provided;
  • all the hard plastic / metal / heavy debris in / on the dolly / wagon available on site.

When are we doing this?

We will meet at the start of the trail Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 10:00! The cleaning activity will end around 12:00.

End of the event

At 12:00 when all the trash is collected we will gather for a group photo (WP4), wash our hands (WP3) and have some CITO cake at the picnic tables (WP5). If you would like to bring some coffee / cake or things to snack on, that would be also great.

After the group photo and the cake break, the organizers will sort out and deliver the waste to the corresponding containers at the recycling center. If you wish to help on this stage also, it will be greatly appreciated, but if not, it's time to say goodbye.
