SideTracked - Malvern Link Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

elfre: The curse of SideTracked - Malvern Link strikes again so it's time for this cache to be archived.

Out of the eight caches I pre-emptively checked today, two had gone missing within the last six days and one within the last three weeks. Disheartening.

Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT at the listed coordinates, but all the information necessary to complete this multi cache can be found on the "up" platform of Malvern Link station, which is accessible by ramp from Osborne Road and Somers Road, or over the station footbridge.

The final cache container and logbook to sign are at N52° 07.5 (A+1) (2A-B)' W002° 19.3 A C'

In algebra 2A-B is shorthand for (2xA)-B

A = the number of large six-petalled flowers on ONE wrought iron gate (by the base of the ramp from Somers Road).

B = the number of x-shaped crosses in the girders of the two supporting legs under the footbridge on ONE platform.

C = last digit of the year this station was adopted by Malvern Community Forest (plaque by base of stairs down from Osborne Road).

About Malvern Link Station

Malvern Link station first opened in July 1859 with only a single track connection north-eastwards to Worcester. The track was extended to Great Malvern and beyond towards Hereford in 1860. The Station House, built from locally quarried stone, is the only surviving original building. Malvern Link station was refurbished most recently in 2014 but retains several distinctive historic features such as the Great Western Railway style barge boarding on the footbridge between platforms, GWR scrollwork benches, and decorative wrought iron boundary fencing along the up platform.

About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It is a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More information can be found at the SideTracked website.

Plastic Kat and Chris placed an earlier SideTracked cache at this station in 2009.
