Geocache Description:

Kennett is a small village in East Cambridgeshire on the very border with Suffolk approximately 2.5 miles NE of Newmarket and 4 miles NW of Bury St Edmunds. The cache is hidden quite close to the village sign.

Kennett has a very small parish of only 1431 acres (579 hectares). In the Domesday Book written in 1086, twenty years after the Battle of Hastings, the village is named Chenet after the river (now the River Kennett which is a tributary of the River Lark. The origin of the river's name is unclear, but it appears to be of Celtic origin, as many of our British rivers. The neighbouring village of Kentford is also named after the river.

If anybody would like to expand this series please do. I would just ask that you let Smokeypugs know first so they can keep track of the Village Sign numbers and names to avoid duplication
