Geocache Description:

Toragy Point lookout offers superb coastal views taking in the scenic mouth of Moruya River. In spring, bring your binoculars for whale watching as these gentle giants migrate south back towards the Southern Ocean for another summer of feeding on krill.  There is often a colony of seals playing about in the waves and on the rocks.  There are plenty of bird-watching opportunities, with the endangered little tern and hooded plover calling the area home.  Come spring, Toragy Point is enlivened with wildflowers, including coastal wattle, Banksia and Pittosporum for you to feast your eyes on.  With beaches nearby you can also use the warmer days with swimming, surfing or a bout of fishing.
At the Lookout is historic Moruya Heads cemetery – a reminder of early European heritage in the area.

First recorded burial in this cemetery took place on 23 August 1858 when the infant daughter of Elias Wyatt, punt operator and his wife Sarah, was buried by Christie Brown, local boatbuilder, carpenter and occasional undertaker, and Reverend Richard Cardwell, Wesleyan Minister. This grave is marked by a headstone, now fallen down or vandalised. The first pilot stationed at Moruya Heads was also buried in this cemetery in 1871. Captain John Ross died aged 65 on 20 March 1871 from an epileptic fit.  There are 20 recorded burials at Moruya Heads Cemetery

The cache is xsmall with no room for swaps so please bring your own pen.  This is a high muggle area at times so be stealthy.  There is room for parking close by.  This is our first cache hide but hopefully not our last.

FTF 👏 Congratulations Tankengine. 👍 Glad you liked it
