O Bairro Pontal é um bairro cuja construção remonta a 1943, implantado durante o Estado Novo e seguindo a filosofia da habitação social dessa época. Situa-se dentro da cidade, e possui características próprias, boas relações de vizinhança e entreajuda entre os moradores. A população é maioritariamente idosa e na sua maioria descendente dos primeiros arrendatários. No entanto, dada a idade avançada da população, alguns fogos vão ficando devolutos, sendo alvo de novas atribuições a agregados familiares de outras faixas etárias e a famílias mais numerosas com necessidade habitacional.
The Bairro Pontal is a neighborhood whose construction goes back to 1943, implanted during the Estado Novo and following the philosophy of social housing of that time. It is located within the city, and has its own characteristics, good relations of neighborhood and mutual aid among the residents. The population is mostly elderly and mostly descended from the first tenants. However, given the advanced age of the population, some houses are becoming vacant, being assigned new assignments to households of other age groups and to larger families with housing needs.
