Geocache Description:

Part of an easy walk down the SCurves or park on the residential street and walk around to the island and just find this one. I hope this will be hard. The cache blends in with the host perfectly. Note the hint. This find mixes a local history lesson and will introduce you to a sweet little Island memorial you drive by every day but didnt even know it was there.

CONGRATS TO FTF DinaWorks & Darth Leviosa Traveling south on Main street at the first SCurve is the Carl G. Klehm memorial Island. Here you will find a place to sit and rest, a huge stone with a memorial to the name sake, and hopefully your cache. This little Island is in the shape of a triangle on the south east side of the first curve traveling south where South Main Street, West Lincoln and IL Hwy 83 collide. It is a cute Island and has a nice path through it and a island bench in the center. It makes you forget the traffic for just a while. The birds love it there even in the winter time. This is a public area backing up to houses right on the street. permission was given by the city to hide. HISTORY The plaque says: In memory of Carl G Klehm Nurseryman in appreciation of his many personal contributions to the community her served. His wife Lois E. Klehm joined him in operating Charles Klehm and Sons Nursery in south Arlington Heights. According to her son Roy Klehm in an article I found in a Chicago tribune, Mrs. Klehm was the boss of the operation. She is credited with coming up with the pink barn and pink landscaping trucks representing the color of the peonies that were the Klehm family trademarks. The Klehms sold the nursery in 1984, at which time Mrs. Klehm established her doll museum and miniatures shop to showcase her collection of antique dolls. So even in those day the expression holds true. Behind every successful man, well you know the rest.
