You are seeking a custom built PVC container large enough for a log book and a few tradeables. Be aware of muggles during seasonal hours and events.
You are standing on the northern side of Jackson County and gazing at a restored farmhouse, called the Cox-Simpson House, which was built in 1839. This home has witnessed many events, most notably the Civil War. Union troops engaged an advance guard of invading Confederates near here in 1862, known as the Battle of Big Hill. This home served as a hospital for those wounded. The Battle of Big Hill was a small scale skirmish and prelude compared to the most complete Confederate victory of the Civil War just north of this site called The Battle of Richmond.
This home and three surrounding acres are now owned and maintained by the Jackson County Fiscal Court, and staffed by volunteers from Jackson County Tourism seasonally.
