Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the Auburn Geocaching Adventure 2017. If you are participating in the Adventure, be sure to record each cache's code word in your series passport to verify your visit.

This beautiful piece of art was created by Michele Van Slyke in 1993 using concrete, stone, aluminum, steel, cedar and enamel paint.  She was born and raised in France and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Heidelberg in Germany before finally settling on Bainbridge Island in 1971. This piece celebrates the White River as an important fishing ground for the Lushootseed people, the benches and wind sculpture depict  the annual salmon migration, and the nets and weirs used by our region's Native American people.

2017 is the third Geocaching Adventure in the City of Auburn, Washington. Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation, auburntourism.com, and the WSGA are hosting the Auburn Geocaching Adventure 2017 - 20 caches placed in Auburn. The geocaches highlight some specific works of art, some parks, and some areas of general interest in Auburn. We hope you enjoy visiting the Auburn area, learning about its public art.
