Geocache Description:

Jack O'Cache was 7 when he moved over from Ireland with his parents. He struggled to make friends and spent most of his time climbing trees in the woods beyond his back garden.

Jack playing in the woods

It was a normal summers evening in 1952 when Jack slipped out through a hole in the fence at the back of his garden, heading for his favourite tree. "Be back for tea!" his mum shouted from the kitchen window, "sure!" Jack shouted back, disappearing through the hole.

This was the last time Jack was ever seen, despite numerous searches of the woods no sign of him was ever found. Over the years various rumours of what happened to Jack have spread around Caterham. No-one can quite agree what happened, but there is one thing they can agree on. They never go into the woods after dark. Locals claim a feeling of 'being watched' when they enter the woods, a feeling that only started after Jack went missing.

The cache is hidden up Jack's favourite tree, be careful, he maybe watching you.

This cache has been hidden with the permission of the local residents who own these woods, after buying them to stop them being developed. You will need specialist climbing equipment to get to the cache. You attempt it at your own risk. Please only log it as found if you get up to the cache, and thanks Roseysaurus for your help!

Plenty of roadside parking at the wood entrance, see waypoint.
