A cache se encotra a uma altitude de 1300 metros, onde está situado o Cruzeiro da Serra, na cidade de Diamantina, Minas Gerais. De lá é possível ter uma ótima vista panorâmica da cidade e do Pico do Itambé. Nesse local onde predominam a vegetação de cerrado e a cobertura de formações rochosas, realiza-se sempre no mês de maio, a Festa de Santa Cruz, com rezas, levantamento de mastro e barraquinhas com comidas típicas e sorteios. É um monumento comemorativo do Centenário da fundação de Diamantina (1838-1938), situado no alto do morro de Santo Antônio, foi o terceiro cruzeiro a ser construído na Serra. Oferece vista de todo o conjunto histórico, de onde se descortina quase todos os pontos da cidade. Tem sua localização pelo acesso na estrada para Couto Magalhães de Minas, 3 km do Centro. Antecedendo às comemorações do Centenário da cidade, que aconteceria no dia seguinte, 06 de março de 1938, com imponente passeata cívica pelas principais ruas da cidade. O novo Cruzeiro tem 5 metros de altura por 1,50 de braço, feito de cimento armado e o primeiro a ser todo iluminado. A benção do novo Cruzeiro foi realizada durante missa campal, celebrada pelo Bispo D. Serafim Gomes Jardim, com a presença do Prefeito Municipal Dr. Joubert Guerra, Dr. Juscelino Kubitschek, dentre outros.
