Geocache Description:

BIG THINGS really are in store for you if you take the time to visit this cache. The tiny town of Casey, Illinois (pronounced CAY-zee) has made a pastime of creating some of the world's largest objects… several of which have been recognized by Guinness World Records.
In order to claim the find on this cache… you will need to visit two of these very large objects (the mailbox & the pitchfork) and email or message me the answers to the questions associated with each one. Do NOT post the answers in your log. Although you only need to visit these two to claim the cache… I highly recommend taking the time to see ALL of the large things in town. And so I have included waypoints for each one of the large objects that I knew about when I last updated this page. If you discover any new ones or ones that I missed… I would love to have their coordinates so that I can point them out to people. Thanks!

Note: Those noted as (WB) are official "world's biggest" objects. Those noted with (FR) are "former record" holders.

Questions?

Email or Message me the answers
  1. Mailbox (WB)
    N 39° 17.926 W 087° 59.614
How many steps (including the landings) must you climb to get up into the mailbox? Alternatively: If you are physically incapable of climbing the stairs… how many round, vertical bars are there on the door to the mailbox stairs?

  2. Pitchfork (WB)
    N 39° 18.929 W 087° 58.727
How many can lights are hanging from the ceiling of the little, red "barn" by the handle end of the pitchfork?

NOTE: Although not required… I would love to see a picture of you with your favorite BIG thing in town.

Accessibility:
Although I believe both of the required stops are wheelchair accessible since they have paved sidewalks going right up to them… I didn't add that attribute since the pitchfork has flat, hard-packed gravel parking in front of the sidewalk. This is not likely to be an obstacle… but I thought it better to be safe than sorry.
Congratulations to BearingGirl for being the first one to claim this virtual!
