Geocache Description:

This Virtual Cache is part of a limited release of Virtuals created between August 24, 2017 and August 24, 2018. Only 4,000 cache owners were given the opportunity to hide a Virtual Cache. Learn more about Virtual Rewards on the Geocaching Blog. Virtual Reward - 2017/2018

Originally this virtual cache was around Her Majesty's sculpture trail. Each year the estate hosted the National the chain saw carvers competition at Sandringham. The winners were often purchased for the trail. During the spring of 2020 the whole visitor center was revamped. New car parks and an Arborium was installed. Originally the sculptures were due to be returned after the renovation but too many were found to be rotten. Instead, posts were installed with leaf shapes to trace like a brass rubbing. In Spring 2023 yet another revamp was made to the arborium. The paths were widened and the whole site was made more wheel chair friendly. There was a major replanting of the area with many new shrubs and trees added to the area. Many of the new plants are endangered in their native habitat. As part of this revamp, King Charles had the leaf rubbing posts removed as there are now lots more posts with plant identification labels. So still no box to be found, or maintained, still just a photo to be taken.

To claim this cache you have to visit the site, walk around the Arborium and take a picture of one of the identification labels, preferably with you or your GPS in the photo to prove you were there. If you don't want to be in the picture, that is fine, put a substitute in the picture, A toy, teddy or GPS will do. If you don't want to post a picture on line, send me one via an email or message from my profile. There is plenty of open space around here and the visitors center is just a few yards away. It is open all year except Christmas and New Year. The trail is open 24hrs a day but you will need to be here with sufficient light to take a photo. If you want to look around the main house, you need to be here between April and October. There is a fee to enter the gardens, house and museum.  Over the winter of 2023/4 some of the original wooden statues have been sited around the forests on the other side of the visitor centre.  I am happy to accept a substitute/additional photo of one of the statues as that was the original concept behind this cache.

The posted coordinates are for the entrance to the Arborium. Go through the gate and turn left or right. The choice is yours. There is no charge to walk around the trail. Parking is free for 30 minutes.
