Geocache Description:

Located at the corner of Edgar Martinez Drive and Dave Niehaus Way you will find "The Kid". The first Mariner position player inducted into the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown. Although not the first Mariner to be inducted into the hall of fame, Dave Niehaus the voice of the Mariners was the first, Griffey is by far the most notable.

I'll never forget the 1995 season when the M's came back against the scourge of the earth in the 11th inning of game 5 of the 1995 ALDS with the Kid sitting on first base. Good old Edgar came to the plate and delivered the double down the line!! As Griffey rounded third our hearts were about to burst and then, as he slid across home, we almost lost our minds! Do I need say more.

I could have cut and pasted everything from the web but why? Kenny was one of the greatest baseball players of all times. I had the privilege of watching lots of games and not a night went by he didn't amaze with either his bat or glove. Here are some stats for those of you who want them:

2781 hits

630 home runs

1836 RBI

13 time all-star

10 time gold glove

7 time silver slugger

Batting Average .284

To log this cache pledge your allegiance to the Mariners and post a picture of you with your GPSR or just your GPSR with the Kid. If you are using your phone as a GPSR and camera then make sure you are holding your keys, a sign or something that makes your photo unique. I will delete any log that does not have the required photo and I will check to make sure you aren't using something off of the web.

Huge KUDOS to Barking Frogz for publishing the cache Just as Felix threw the first pitch of the 2018 season!!!!!!!
