Did you heard about selfie? Stupid question, of course. But did you know that a selfie is pretty old thing? It is not just a phenomenon of this digital century. It wasn't invented by Mr. Bean, nor Paris Hilton. :)
Oxford dictionary stated in 2013 "selfie" as word of the year, but author of first known selfie photo is Robert Cornelius from Philadelphia, pioneer of photography, amateur chemist and manufacturer of lamps. First selfie was created in 1839 near of the family store, where 30-years old Robert must sit still for a 10 - 15 minutes. to create one picture only. On the back of the photography he wrote : The first light".
Most of these days selfies was created using a mirror, but Joseph Byron, elegant man in hat was holding his camera in 1909 just right like the kids nowadays holds their smartphones. In december 1920 he took his colleagues Pirie MacDonald, Marceau, Pop Core and Benjamin Falk on the roof of the studio in Marceau and they together created maybe the first documented group selfie, where Byron hold one side of camera and Ben Falk another... what a great selfie!
And why we was reading about selfie? Because you are invited to visit a famous "selfie station", if you are not already standing there. Took your camera out of your pocket now and take a selfie like most of the visitors of this beautiful and charming place. Be creative and original!
Logging requirements: you can choose one of the three tasks as you want.
1. Enthusiast task
(only for well prepared, fun loving cachers)
Your task is to take selfie on selfie waypoint with your written nick on created origami paper model of the vehicle type you came here using it. A plane, ship, bike, car etc. Local people will create a paper origami of house. This model you must hold in the palm od your hand when taking a selfie with a dominant Colosseo behind you. There will be competition and a winner photo of each month placed directly in the listing with congratulations.
2. Fun task
(mandatory only if not fulfilling the Enthusiast task)
Your task is to take selfie on selfie waypoint with drawing on palm of your hand or hold a paper with drawing in your hand. Draw you nick name and a picture of the vehicle type you came here using it. A plane, ship, bike, car etc. Local people will draw a house. with a dominant Colosseo behind you.
3. Basic task
(mandatory only if not fulfilling the fun or enthusiast task)
Your task is to take a creative picture of you or your GPS on selfie waypoint proving your presence with a dominant Colosseo behind you. At least be creative, you can jump on the photo for example or use mood filters or you can try to give the photo a historic look.
WARNING: Logs without fulfilling the logging requirements might be deleted! At least one picture is obligatory.
