When geocaching in the West Country in England we happened on a large scale themed series called "A Fine Pair" and like we did with the "Little Bridges" series beforehand, we decided to introduce them locally. This is the first one in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland.
This is number 933 in the series where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box. The only rules are that they have to be able to be photographed together, be not more than 100' apart and the phone boxes have to be red.

This "Fine Pair" is located in Randalstown, a small town in County Antrim between Antrim town and the village of Toome. It has a very prominent former railway viaduct which is now a spectacular public footpath and is also near the Shane's Castle Estate. Randalstown was named after the 1st Marquess of Antrim, Randal MacDonnell (1609-1683) and the town has enduring links to the O'Neill family. The original stronghold of Edenduffcarrick was built in the 16th Century and changed ownership repeatedly until it was renamed Shane's Castle after the new owner, Shane McBrian O'Neill.
The cache has four stages and starts with a physical stage, then moves through two virtual, information gathering stages, leading to the final cache and log. Each stage leads you to the next. The cache should only take about half an hour and provides a roughly circular walk through most of the town with some outstanding views of the river. There is both street parking and public car-parks in close proximity to the start point.

Stage 3 - Date the original station opened = ABCD. Deputy Post Master’s Salary = EF. N54 44.(2C)(B-C)(D+A). W006 19.(A+E)(D+E)(B+F) On your way to the last stage start by going up hill from your location and follow the cycle route.
Stage 4 - Cache and log
