Geocache Description:

An easy to find geocache at Britain's most northerly church.

The Church Micro series is ten years old, and what better way to celebrate than to place a new church micro at Britain's most northerly church?

Located close to the defunct Saxa Vord RAF site, it has fine views over Haroldswick and beyond. Haroldswick Methodist Church is a square, grey harled church, based on a simplified Norwegian wooden staved church. It has a red aluminium roof and a tiny spire. The interior is panelled with Scandinavian red pine, giving a warm and welcoming feel. The predecessor to the current building was located where the car park is now, and was damaged by high winds. The replacement was designed by a Shetland architect, Frank A Robertson. The foundation stone of the new church was laid in 1990, and the church was dedicated in 1993. A separate bell turret was added as a Millennium project, and was built in 2001, however the bell it houses is much older, dating back to 1867.

The cache is large enough to contain the log, a pencil and small swaps/travel bugs. As always, if you choose to trade, please swap for items of equal or greater value. Please ensure it is safely tucked underneath the structure that protects is, so that it does not blow away.
