Saint-Front owes its name to the man who led a number of Francophone settlers to the region, Florian Montès. Born in Saint-Front, France, Montès decided in 1910 to set out for Saskatchewan, with several other families, and to settle in the region.
The region was not very accessible. In spite of that, two villages were established: Saint-Front and Perigord.
Around 1920, there were about fifty families in Saint-Front, all of them Francophone. The land was excellent for farming, which motivated people to clear their farmsteads. A school and a church were opened, as well.
Today, the economy of the area continues to be mainly agricultural.

Saint-Front doit son nom à celui qui a entraîné dans la région plusieurs colons francophones, soit Florian Montès. Originaire de Saint-Front en France, l’homme décide de s’aventurer en Saskatchewan avec plusieurs familles afin de s’installer dans la région en 1910.
L’endroit est très peu accessible. Malgré cela, deux villages y verront le jour : Saint-Front et Périgord.
Vers 1920, la population de Saint-Front compte une cinquantaine de familles et est exclusivement francophone. La terre est de très bonne qualité pour l’agriculture, ce qui encourage les gens à défricher leurs lots. Une école et un église ouvriront aussi leurs portes.
C’est aujourd’hui encore un endroit où l’économie tourne principalement autour de l’agriculture.
