A geologia paulistana é relativamente variada. Nas áreas mais periféricas concentram-se embasamentos antigos, do período pré-cambriano, onde preponderam rochas magmáticas muito antigas. Em uma área mais central, compreendida entre os rios Pinheiros e Tietê, encontram-se sedimentos terciários da própria bacia paulista, onde ao longo dos milênios foram se depositando materiais resultantes do desgaste das rochas, como argila de origem lacustre. Finalmente, próximo aos rios encontram-se uma cobertura aluvial mais arenosa, formada mais recentemente (período quaternário). Além disso, destacam-se na geologia paulistana dois grandes corpos d'agua. Uma das formas do geólogo identificar certo tipo de terreno é através de uma análise tátil e visual, onde a coloração e granulação do terreno acaba indicando do que é composto.

This is an Earthcache-type cache, which means you should go to the site, observe certain aspects, and correctly answer the questions put in the description. Only logs that meet this requirement will be kept. The geology of São Paulo is relatively varied. In the more peripheral areas, there are ancient basements of the pre-Cambrian period, where very old magmatic rocks preponderate. In a more central area, between the Pinheiros and Tietê rivers, there are tertiary sediments of the São Paulo basin, where, over the millennia, materials have been deposited resulting from the wear of the rocks, such as clay of lacustrine origin. Finally, near the rivers are a more sandy alluvial cover, more recently formed (quaternary period). In addition, two large bodies of water stand out in São Paulo's geology. One of the geologist's ways to identify a certain type of terrain is through a tactile and visual analysis, where the coloring and granulation of the terrain ends up indicating what it is composed of.
