Vasquez Rocks Park
This is a fairly easy cache to get to, but hot in summer. Bring plenty of water.
We had two GPS units along and registered the following readings:
On GPS Unit 1 (Wrist Watch GPS):
N 34° 29.036 W 118° 18.986 (Altitude 2510’)
On GPS Unit 2 (Magellen 2000):
N 34° 29' 2" W 118° 19' 2"
[Note from Ginger] The second GPS, a Magellen 2000 is about 6 years old and is one of the first hand held GLS units available (got it when I was just a puppy.) It seems to be much less accurate than current models. It is here for reference and education. Use GPS 1 to get to the cache, or 2 if you want to increase the challenge... {5-28-01}
After successfully searching and finding a number of caches, we decided to hide our own. Please use the camera to take a picture of your group, and then return it to the box. The cache includes items that symbolically represent the members of our team. The collection is hidden in a military ammo box and includes the following items: take-out menu from Crystal’s deli (where we always begin our geocaching), crystallized ginger, rubber ducky, Where’s George $1 bill (please register and circulate), 2 hot wheels trucks, rawhide dog bone, candy, crayons, sealed tube of Preparation H, toy harmonica (never used), ginseng royal jelly, box of falafel mix, canned tuna salad with crackers. Please bring the rubber ducky to another cache. We hope to find her again someday after she has enjoyed her journey.
We call ourselves “Ginger’s People.” Ginger is our faithful puppy who joins us on all our adventures and loves them as much as we do. We started out with four people and are now up to ten and still growing.
