Geocache Description:

Slēpnis atrodas dabas takā "Spīdalas taka" jeb "Ašķeres taka".

Slēpņa konteiners satur: logbook, parasto zīmuli, zīmuļasināmo, dzēšgumiju, chache note.

This chache is located in nature footpath "Spīdalas taka" or "Ašķeres taka".

Chache contains: logbook, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, chache note.

Rudenī un pavasarī vēlams vilkt gumijas zābakus (vai plēves maisiņus uz citiem apaviem), jo ir kārtīgi dubļi.

In autumn and spring wear rubber boots (or some kind of plastic bags on other type of footwear), becouse there's great mud.

Pa pirmatnīgu strauta gravu no Daugavpils lielceļa līdz Aizkraukles pilskalnam cauri lielā susura (Glis Glis) liegumam. 400m garā taka vijas pa stāvu gravu, kuras dziļumā tek Ašķeres upīte ar ļoti akmeņainu gultni un krastiem. Ašķeres grava izveidojusies pirms 15 tūkstošiem gadu, kad lielais ledājs šķērsoja Latvijas teritoriju. Šeit vērojams vienreizīgs biotops, kura veidošanos nav ietekmējis cilvēks. VII - XI gs. pie Ašķeres upītes ietekas Daugavā atradās seno skandināvu osta. (Info no http://www.upes.lv/vidrupe/vidrupe/upju-takas/ )

It goes through ancient brook glen from highway of Daugavpils to The Aizkraukle Castle Hill through the nature rezerve of The Edible Dormouse (Glis Glis). 400 m long footpath is located on steep glen that in its depth holds a flow of little river Ašķiere with very rocky bed and coasts. The glen of Ašķere has been formed 15 thousand years ago, when The Big Glacier passed through territory of Latvia. Here you can see unique biotope that is untouched by human. In VII – XI centuries in the entrainment of river Ašķere in Daugava there was located a port of The Ancient Scandinavians. (Info - http://www.upes.lv/vidrupe/vidrupe/upju-takas/ )

The legend about Spīdala tells that she was amazingly beautiful woman, but sadly – a witch. While walking the footpath and looking for chache, look down to the river Ašķere, that runs next to you – you’ll see a lot of differendly shaped and sized stones. They say these are men and boys that had fallen in love with the appearance of Spīdala, but she had turned them into stones in her glen, and now they lay there with their love forever – some bigger, some smaller, some fatter, some slimmer.

When you find this chache, keep going further, there you’ll see a resting place with fantastic view to the Daugava valley.
