The D&H rail road was used for many things over the years. Before refrigeration, this railroad was used to transport blocks of ice to large city markets in the summer. The ice was cut from local ponds during the winter and stored in large ice houses near the tracks. The rail also were ideal for transporting heavy, bulky products like lumber and quarry stone. The Post Office Department also sent mail to many outlying towns and hamlets in the countryside by railroad. For those stations where the train did not stop, a large hook was extended to snag the bag of mail from the train as it passed.
This Cache is hidden using old remnants of the railroad past. Keep your eyes posted for old decaying objects.
