Puunippujen pudotuspaikka oli vielä käytössä 1970-luvun alkupuolella. Noin 50 vuotta sitten näillä rannoilla oli kesäisin varsin vilkasta. Kelu-moottorit eli varppaajat puksuttivat, ja kokosivat puuniput pitkiksi litkoiksi. Hinaaja tuli hakemaan litkan ja puunippujen matka Saimaalle alkoi. Tästä kaikesta on enää jäljellä vain kuvan mukainen kyltti tienvarressa. Älä siirtele äläkä pura mitään, mutta katselemalla kätkö löytyy.
This tradi near by a lumber bundle drop spot belongs to a cache series which introduces the traditional Finnish log floating. The series include “Here we come again”, “Bundles bay”, “Road to the boat dock”, and “Lumberjack’s lunchbox”. You will need a flash light, a pen, and sharp eyes in finding all caches.
The lumber bundle drop spot was still in operation in the beginning of 1970s. These shores were quite busy about 50 years ago. Old engines were puffing along and gathering the lumber bundles. A tugboat came to pick up the lumber bundles and towed them to Lake Saimaa. Only a signboard next to the road (see the picture) is left from all this. Please don’t dismantle or move anything. You will find the cache by looking around.
