Holy Trinity church was consecrated in 1849, in preparation of the new parish being created from portions of Hughenden, Missenden and Stoke Mandeville parishes. Before then there was no anglican church in Prestwood. The church was designed by the renowned victorian architect, E B Lamb, both the church building and the lych gate are listed grade II on the National Heritage List.
The churchyard is a rare example of an acid grass heath, or waxcap grassland, which would have been prevalent on the chilterns once. The cnditions mean it is perfect for fungi, mostly waxcaps, but several others, to flourish. It is well worth an amble round. For nature lovers, http://www.htprestwood.org.uk/images/MH/ChurchYard.pdf will be of interest.
The building underwent a major refurbishment in 2015.
